Crafts

Child's art project Staff of Housing Rights, Inc. attend many festivals and other public events. When appropriate we conduct crafts projects. We do this for events that are focused on young children. Our craft projects use materials that we have collected from a variety of sourcs especially Lakeshore Learning Materials. The project include using 'gingerbread' shapes or face shapes in a variety of skin tones that the children decorate. We also use skin colored crayons and markers that children and youth use to draw themselves on white paper. The simple goal of the project is the celebration of differences. It is fascinating watching the children and youth, (and their parents) choose (or reject) certain skin colors and eye colors. We supply a variety of feathers, sparkles, foam shapes and craft hair that are then used to decorate the shapes. The results are always fun.
